چکیده

An antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on a 1/5-depleted two-dimensional square-lattice, a model of CaV4O9, is investigated by variational Monte Carlo simulation. A prototype of a trial wave function is made by projecting out the doubly occupied states from the Schwinger-boson mean-field solution. Then variational Monte Carlo simulation is performed up to 40× 40 sites(including 320 vacant sites). The optimized state has the lowest energy, −0.5510J , ever reported. For this state energies of a dimer bond and a plaquette bond, staggered magnetization, static structure factor, and excitation spectrum are calculated. It is shown that the Néel order survives and there is no gap at isotropic coupling. 75.10.-b, 75.10.Jm, 75.50.Ee Typeset using REVTEX

Sign structures for short-range RVB states on small kagome clusters

We extended the Schwinger boson construction to obtain wave functions that are resonating valence bond (RVB) counterparts of the degenerate coplanar classical states on the kagome lattice. We examined all 84 of them on the 36-site cluster and found that they form a narrow energy band. On the 12-site cluster, there are only four such states and their superpositions accurately account for the sec...

Dynamical correlations in a Hubbard chain with a resonating-valence-bond ground state.

Dynamical correlation functions for temperature T = 0 are calculated for a Hubbard chain with infinite on-site repulsion. This chain contains three sites per unit cell and has a known resonating-valence-bond ground state for a filling of 2 particles per unit cell. A finite system of 24 sites is studied numerically. The recursion method is applied and results for spectral densities are compared ...

SU(N) quantum spin models: a variational wavefunction study

SU(N) quantum spin systems may be realized in a variety of physical systems including ultracold atoms in optical lattices. The study of such models also leads to insights into possible novel quantum phases and phase transitions of SU(2) spin models. Here we use Gutzwiller projected fermionic variational wavefunctions to explore the phase diagram and correlation functions of SU(N) quantum spin m...

حسابان فرمول‌بندی هم‌پوشانی و SiSj حالت‌های VB با تعداد تریپلون دلخواه

Resonating valence bond (RVB) states are suitable candidates for ground state of the Heisenberg model on various two dimensional lattices. When a singlet valence bond is broken to produce a triplet state, the resulting excitation is called a triplon. In this paper, we obtain formulas for the overlap and also matrix elements of si.sj operator between states with arbitrary number of triplons . ...

Exact Ground and Excited States of Frustrated Antiferromagnets on the Cav 4 O 9 Lattice

The experimental observation of a spin-gap in the antiferromagnetic spin2 compound CaV4O9 has been attributed to the formation of a plaquette resonating-valence-bond (PRVB) state in the underlying 1/5-depleted square lattice. We construct a spin2 model on the 1/5-depleted lattice for which the PRVB state can be shown to be the exact ground state in a particular parameter regime. In a subspace o...
